I mean, if you want a one-liner, you can't do much better, I think. But if you don't mind adding one line, you can get the max and min values above. But for this purpose, it's pointless, because it's not making a notable improvement in terms of performances.

for some reason i couldn't get this to work. The return would literally be "range(0,1)" or something. (not string, i'm just quoting).
I couldn't figure out what the problem was since i'm a beginner, so i just came up with a much clunkier solution to my disappointment.

So clever!

It does exactly the same as your solution, but instead of using if-else the max-function decides if (n-2)^3 should be calculated or to simply return 0, when n-2 is smaller than 0
