I solved this easily. This problem wasn't difficult. The hard part was reading this negative political BS. We are here to practice coding, not take on BS political opinions and read through childish nonsense.
If his neighbor is Don Poseiden not surprising that house is falling apart
Made me laugh, so thanks for that.
The 8 kyu difficulty is also accurate in my opinion.
Scala translation
Approved
MAKE CODEWARS GREAT AGAIN
If you from USA, please ask me
.
I love you for making this
Please use new python test framework.
Done.
Do I really need to deal with politics EVERYWHERE? I mean dont get me wrong. I am interested in politics. I dedicate part of my day to it. But ffs does it need to be here? HERE!?
What does Don Drumphet's neighborhood association have to do with politics? :)
It's just a bit of harmless flavour...
totally agree
There's a bug in this Kata (huge bug, tremendously huge bug, bigger than any bug in bug history and bigger than bugs bunny for sure, believe me!): According to recent research (many people say so, too!), Don Drumphet is actually able to remember words within range (0,7) like person, woman, man, camera, TV. Please fix!
What's next?!
covidHoax? willMyVoteArriveOnTime?
The instructions state, "If the number of the characters in name is 'equal or less than two.'" The correct phraseology should be "less than 2."
nope:
n<2
n<=2
, which is the correct... wording.I'll update that, thx (edit: done)

You're using the opposite condition, the opposite of
"<="
is">"
.Those two are equivalent.

Pettiness? How so, unknown?
"Toxic pettiness like this doesn't belong here. Author should feel bad and delete herself off this platform." Hilarious having these two sentences literally right next to each other
The kata is broken in all languages, it is a known (and already reported) issue: https://github.com/Codewars/codewars.com/issues/1788
Please don't open more issues about it, with one open is enough.
Fixed
If it has been fixed, maybe someone edit Notice in the description? "Note: this kata is not working for the time being."
Done.
haskell、ruby and javascript version cannot be used.
Closing to group all languages in one issue.
JavaScript version seems broken - you can choose it but after reload the selection is empty.
Duplicate issue.
Python version is broken? Cannot choose any language from the languages drop-down menu and it just shows a blank editor. And no, this is not fake news.
You are correct. JavaScript version as well.

I don't care about anyone's politics you gotta admit that was pretty funny

would have been more accurate if the guy was called Ol' Joe
Haskell version kumited
Thank you!!!!! I almost have a crush on Haskell. So awesome you did this!
Translation was approved.
Guys who tf cares if its talking about a president lmao. Just do the program and move on.
it's not so much that, it is that everything is political 24/7 for the past few years. its nutts, its in Cartoons, entertainment, what now in coding, got to be able to escape it somehere sometime, people are obsessed, you can die these days, and someone will come dig you up and wisper this crap in your dead head

I agree wholly. Politics should NOT be a part of every aspect of life.
And for that you wrote 3 posts about it?
IF "You hate the President of the United States" THEN "You are against the Country and People of the United States"
Let me ask you this? Have you ever voted for a president that did not win? How did that make you feel; did you wish that he, and therefore the country, would fail? People these days have lost all respect, you don't disrespect the President for any reason, whether you like him or not.
Weird. I did not know US president's name was Don Drumphet. Interesting....

Shit I flagged someone as a spoiler, I am used to a reply button... sorry accident, anyway I was not arguing I was just saying it was annoying, just annoying as if now someone started making No Russia Collusion Katas, cause the report is out and there was none, just get tired of hearing about bla bla wheh wheh all the time, if I go to McDonalds I want a burger, if I go to the Carnival I want a ride, there is a time and place for everything, not 1 thing that is in everything, No Judy I dont want to hear your theory on politics, I want to buy this dang coke and go home, and possibly program without hearing of Trump, Sanders, Madow, Uncle Touchy Biden, etc... I have lots of crazy theories on lots of crazy stuff myself, anyone want to hear a 3 year 24/7 non stop rant about Kennedy and Operation Northwoods, No, Why not, mine has more evidence and clout... muhahaha
Keep calm carry on my wayward son
Hey guys, I wrote a scala translation for this. Can you please go give it a look?
(I'm still a codewars green horn so I hope this link works) https://www.codewars.com/kumite/5a85f8674a6b34fcb30009b0?sel=5a85f8674a6b34fcb30009b0
Hey, I was trying to approve your tranlation but I get a warning saying that I need to merge previous change. This is the only kata I have ever written (year ago when I was new to coding) so I don't really know the whole lot about writing, approving kata process. Where do I merge preious change?
I'm not entirely sure to be honest. This is the first time I've written anything for codewars. I republished it again so maybe it will work this time?
hmmmm still get the same message. I will ask around. At the mean time hope someone can answer this. Thanks for the contribution!
Give me some good resources on Scala learning ... I am thinking of making a Visual python Gui builder with .net Controls and not IronPython... would this be a good idea for people, or just a pet project for my lonesome?
@thestuckster If you fork, conflicts in the description should be highlighted. @SpecialEd https://www.scala-lang.org/documentation/learn.html Try the Coursera courses then maybe the first 1 or 2 books if you feel like.
.
Absolutely hilarious, I was howling when I first read it! Good one thumbs up
As a Mexican, I smiled when I read the Kata title. However, I was expecting Tonald Drump, not his long lost cousin Don Drumphet.
Very funny, ah ah ah
I don't care if this is political and inappropriate...it is funnier TH and therefore gets my vote!
Description is unclear where it says "return the name as is" in case of short input, as returning the original string won't work. Maybe add "return an array containing only the name as is"?
I just edited per your suggestion. Thank you.
Damn me... Didn't see that the ruby version was lacking its random tests before approval. If someone could take care of those...?
Can't edit the kata (at least not until 1 week after this issue is raised), so you'll have to do this yourself at the moment ;-)
Added random tests for Ruby.
An example of the input and result should be given in the description.
Not an issue, especially since there are example tests.
Your story talks about neighbors (in plural) but the code only deals with one name. Might want to change the story to talk about one person or the requirement to handle multiple names.
Either it has been changed in the meantime or you just didn't read correctly the last line of the description.
JS, Python and Crystal translations submitted for you to approve; also, the last has random test cases you might wish to basically copy&paste to make the Ruby version complete.
Cheers :)
Thank you :)
I would like to translate this to c# but I ran into an issue with the return type. This will make it hard to translate into staticly typed languages (like c#). I will do my best to translate it, but you should look into have a unified return type, so that, no matter what I pass in I always get back the same type. For example, I would recommend that function takes a string as a parameter and always returns an array.
I just changed it to return an array.
Awesome :-). I just added a translation. I think it needs approved now
Thank you so much!!!
(type)data || bla.ToString();
