    "Lowest assessed rank: 7kyu" :')

  • smile67 Avatar

It's ready for approval, perhaps someone can do - i'm "curious" about the ranking;-)?!

    • PG1 Avatar

      Me too...

    • matt c Avatar

before approval it'd be nice to know what this kata is teaching that the other kata didn't.

    • smile67 Avatar

Easy to answer:-): Finding (!!) and adding (!) single letters to a given word;-)...

    • matt c Avatar

I've seen that in solutions in the previous kata so I believe it must already be known to pass the original one.

    • smile67 Avatar

No volunteers here...? Steffen, Myjinxin, ... small step for you, great step for the community:-)...

    • matt c Avatar

It just seems there's no new knowledge you need to have to pass this kata..

for example if you had one kata which asks for a short number then another kata asking for an even longer number, there's nothing new you have to do just add more numbers.

    • smile67 Avatar

Yes;-)... surely you are right, only a little bit more typing (by the way my vote was 7, because 3/4 seems much too high:-))...

    • matt c Avatar

I believe it should be ranked about a 6 and the previous kata should have probably been ranked the same because I don't believe it doesn't meet any of these requirements.

5 kyu kata represent a novice programming level. At this level the kata are similar to 6 kyu but more challenging. It includes:

      • Complex language features that require mature OOP/Functional concepts
      • Advanced OOP/Functional concepts
      • Complex Design Patterns
      • Advanced regular expression usage
    • smile67 Avatar

So it's your time to approve it as 6kyu - same as the first one;-)...

    • matt c Avatar

I would but I don't think this kata should be approved, I won't try stop it just thought it's a good discussion point as well.

  • matt c Avatar

    basically a duplicate of https://www.codewars.com/kata/57f90a8d5cae44a9dc000091

the same method of solving the mentioned kata can be used to solve this one.

    • PG1 Avatar

I'd say it isn't a duplicate as there is more to do to solve this one. Same method yes, but wouldn't that be like saying we should only have one kata to reverse an array, or use a loop?

Yeah that makes sense, but I believe my comment above still stands

    And CoffeeScript translation here

  • matt c Avatar

    freeze that require.

  • myjinxin2015 Avatar

Same as that one, a bit boring...

    • PG1 Avatar

Not for someone that hasn't come across it before

    • smile67 Avatar

Wondering a little bit about the rankings for these both katas 4kyu or here 3kyu at the moment - really so difficult (solvable in less than 3 minutes)? Compared to others (more thinking, more typing, more sense) i think the ranking is much too high...;-) So don't wonder, i will only choose a 7 now;-). But good work here, even if a similar one exists:-)!

    • nbeck Avatar

Easy if you know the trick I do not know this one and I am stuck!!!

    • smile67 Avatar

Yes, but as you wrote, it's more a "trick" than a hard kata or "complex code" to justify a ranking of 3 or 4 kyu - i think;-). So it's not bad if you can't solve it, there's no practical use...

    • PG1 Avatar

Even still, 7kyu is beginner level so I think far too low

    • smile67 Avatar

Yes, you are right, it's just to reduce the average... maybe at the end it's 5 and your earlier one 6 compared to many others...

    • smile67 Avatar

I just approved your earlier one with 5 (both averages - makes no difference if 5 or 6, two points for the solution)... Later on someone else can approve this one, perhaps it gets a higher ranking, perhaps not, we will see...;-)

    • nbeck Avatar

Ahaha still have no clue!!! But yes 6 or 5 seems to be fine. It is a trick, I know that just unable to find it.

    • smile67 Avatar

Ok, will see what i can do...: "Generating some senseless output produces things with letters inside usable for generating meaningful words... but generally as sensless as before";-)... Wow, sounds a little bit philosophical:-)...
