For someone starting out I think 7 is appropriate. Once you've done hundreds of these, everything feels easier.

An efficient solution requires the knowledge of 4 methods and their combined use, so I guess 7th kyu is just right.

Contradicts how? The order is given in the first part, the second list has the names of the methods in no particular order.

Maybe the fact that the list of operations at the beginning of the description contradicts the one at the end?

Imagine your self that sort() is not existing yet in js - even though it was a part of ES1 -, if you could solve it you have a right to say 'it's too easy'.
