I'm sorry for not making it clear outright, but this exercise was intended for my students (~11-12 yr. old) who have not learned functions yet. It's so they can practice "for" loops (though, yes, a function would be ideal).

So lets go even further and add that 1 to arr[0], since it is also guaranteed not to be in the result.
It remains un-efficient even though.
