Since no colors are used, perhaps I should remove the entire concept of "color" from the kata's title and description. I could then introduce this concept in a next kata with colored tubes.

Hi,

Formally, you'd never see a centrifuge with 1 hole only, so length of 1 shouldn't be tested.

The center of mass of these tubes is exactly in the center of the centrifuge. This kata asks you to figure out the center of mass, so I can't give you an exact algorithm how to get there.
