    Try to narrow it down to a specific test case. Find out what your code is returning in that case. That'll probably tell you what the problem is.

    The only asserts in the JS version of this kata are standard ones (Test.expect()).

    This isn't really an issue. The reference solution doesn't need to be perfect, just good enough to determine whether another purported solution passes all the test cases.

    cool kata. i must say that decoding was an easy task but translating it to code was a bit of a challenge so im not proud of my solution right now
